ETP Supports Eco-Friendly Companies
In support of the Administration's efforts to protect the economy and the environment through clean technology, ETP's 2007-08 Strategic Plan includes eco-friendly industries as a funding priority, and ETP is actively marketing to companies that are using new technologies to promote a healthy environment for California.
The Panel recently approved a contract for the Silicon Valley Workforce Investment Network (SVWIN) to provide training for Nanosolar Inc. of San Jose, a company that manufactures a new solar energy cell using nanotechnology to generate electricity. Not only is Nanosolar a "green" company, but it is also rapidly expanding, projecting over 200 new hires within the next two years.
In addition to the contract ETP currently holds with SVWIN, several other small eco-friendly companies are seeking job training funds and are currently preparing their proposals for consideration by the Panel.
California is witnessing explosive growth in industries using clean technologies, such as alternative energy production, manufacturing and installation of solar panels, recycling, and environmental design and construction. As these companies grow in size and numbers, ETP anticipates a growing demand for job training funds needed to enhance worker skills in cutting edge technologies.
For more information regarding ETP's commitment to eco-friendly businesses, contact Charles Lundberg of ETP at 916-327-5261 or at clundberg@etp.ca.gov.
