A Message from Michael N. Saragosa, ETP's new Executive Director
I would like to thank Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for giving me the opportunity to serve as Executive Director of the Employment Training Panel. I had the honor of working for the Governor for a little over two years in the Appointments Unit, first as a Deputy and then as the Chief Deputy. Over the last year I served as a Deputy Cabinet Secretary, overseeing the day-to-day activities and policy directives for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. It is with a bit of sadness I leave the Governor's Office, but I am excited to begin my tenure at ETP and help lead an organization that is a shining example of how government and the private sector can work collaboratively to enhance the competitiveness of businesses while strengthening the job skills of California workers.
Before working in the Schwarzenegger Administration, I was Chief-of-Staff for Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia. I also worked for former Assembly Members Lynn Daucher and Bob Pacheco. In between my government experience I was Associate Director for the Orange County Medical Association and owned and operated a consulting firm specializing in strategic planning and grassroots management for political and business clients.
My wife, Brenda, and I reside in Placerville with our "3 children" Basil, Gus Gus and Sybil Vane (the two boys are Dachshunds and the girl a Boxer).
I look forward to meeting and working with the Panel, staff and all of the stakeholders of the Employment Training Panel. I will be ardent in ensuring ETP maximizes its resources and is proactive in its marketing, and look forward to meeting with stakeholders across the state to continually improve and streamline our operations while maintaining a high level of quality control.
