Inside ETP - A Glimpse Into ETP's Information Technology Unit (ITU)
The November 2008 edition of ETP's News Link launched the first of a series of articles to introduce our readers to the overall business operations of ETP. This month's focus is on ETP's Information Technology Unit (ITU), the conduit of ETP's business through the use of information technology (IT) in a secure manner. ITU is responsible for maintaining a high-performance environment for ETP's customers, both internal (ETP staff) and external (potential and current program participants).
This small, resourceful six-member ITU team provides IT support in the areas of Enterprise System Architect, System and Application Security, Application Development, Network Administration (consisting of a host of switches, servers and firewalls), ETP's E-mail System, Internet, Intranet, Desktop, Help Desk and Smart Phones. Additionally, ITU develops IT policies, maintains ETP's Disaster Recovery Plan and prepares reporting documents for the State's Chief Information Officer, Department of Finance and the Legislature.
ITU provides technical support for ETP's Website, Class Lab Tracking System, Online Forms, and over 50 integrated business applications, as well as regular security and system upgrades to all aspects of the ETP's IT environment.
If you do business with ETP, you can be assured that ITU is instrumental in almost every aspect of your interaction with the entire program. Simply stated, ITU is the heartbeat of ETP's business operations.
